SAFETY SUMMARY

The safety issues mentioned here do not eliminate all safety hazards found in the area of operation. However, they do highlight some procedures that have found through long experience to improve the safety conditions around temperature control systems.

Temperature control systems, like any other type of equipment, require normal periodic maintenance or relocation in order to get the most of investment in the system. One should think twice before doing any thing. The following issues will help for best out of temperature control system.

  • Lifting Apparatus : The temperature control systems or parts should be assembled or disassembled and moved with proper lifting device which has the capability of gentle and slow lifting (for parts or assemblies which are heavy to lift manually).

  • Electrical Lockout : The temperature control systems (main frames and control modules) are powered with 120 VAC or 240 VAC or 480 VAC, that could cause severe shock or electrocution. Follow proper electrical power lockout / tagout procedure before working or removing temperature control system or module. Accidental startup of system may have tragic results. All electrical connections and troubleshooting must be done according to safe electrical practices.

  • Changing Modules : Before inserting or removing control modules from the main frame, power must be off on both, the module and the main frame. If module is inserted or removed under power, severe damage will result to both the control module and main frame. Before replacing the module, the main frame connector must be inspected for any damage due to sparks etc. by a qualified electrician. Damage caused to main frame or the control module as a result of improper insertion or removal will not be covered under warranty.

  • Unauthorized Modifications : Do not modify the main frame or the control module in any way. Modification could cause danger to personnel or equipment. ITC will not be responsible for any damage or injury caused due to unauthorized modification to the temperature control system or control module.

  • The temperature control system may be used with machines / equipment by other manufacturers. Observe all the necessary safety requirements of the specific machine maker.

  • When system is out of service, both control module and main frame must be turned off.
